An introduction:
Welcome to my blog, I am a student at DMU, and I will be taking English Language as a progression route from the course I am doing now.
In this blog I will be talking about why I chose English Language and how I decided that it is the right path for me. I have loved learning about English ever since I had met my secondary school teacher, she had sparked a joy in my heart for the topic of English Language that I never knew I had. I realised that I have loved reading and the English Language. Studying English can open up many doors for me, however I would love to be an English teacher and follow into the footsteps of the teacher that heavily inspired me to be who I am today, I would love to be that someone for another individual.
The book that I have always loved and have read countless of times is 'Room', by Emma Donoghue. The book is very important to me as it is one of the first I have completely analysed and read through and through.
Room by Emma Donoghue, published on 6th August 2010. Source: Emma Donoghue |
It is a novel about a five-year old boy, who goes by the name Jack, he lives in a single room with his Ma, but he has never been outside as he knows nothing of it. However when he turns five, he starts to ask questions and his mother then reveals to him that there is a world far beyond the room, that they are currently living in. The whole story is told in Jack's voice. It is a story of resilience and the love between a parents and child.
''The story was inspired by having kids, and being locked away in a room is a metaphor for the claustrophobic tender bond of parenthood, I borrowed observations, jokes, kid grammar and whole dialogues from our son Finn, who was five while I was writing it. Donoghue E. (2017)

Good start with a clear introduction to yourself, good source underneath the image and good quote used. I think you could have written more in terms of why the book inspires you and what have you learnt from it.
