I opened Wix and was faced with a numerous amount of templates, the one I chose resonated with English language:
This is a CV template but I liked the simplicity also, I liked this template as I liked the colour selection of it and I think it would be a good way to display all of my work.
I clicked on pages and menu so that I could edit the names of the webpages. After going into this I was able to edit what my web pages would be called. I stuck with 4 as I had to delete others which were not necessary. I was left with these 4, I made sure they were consistent with capitalisation.
I then decided to change the theme and colour I wanted my website to contain, during this I was able to customise the font and text. I did this through 'Site Design', then 'Site Theme'.
I ended up choosing the theme 'Warm', as I feel as it fits into the theme I would like to go with, which would be warm and cold toned down tones.
To customise my home page, I pressed on 'Add Section', and I chose 'Welcome', I chose the 5th option down as I liked it the most. I changed the colour to a pastel pink as that is the colour theme I would like throughout my website.
I then proceeded the change the font size of the menu, as it was a little bit small and I wanted it to be most legible.
I duplicated the button that was already available to me, which was one on my contact page, I really liked it so I decided to re-use it, I proceeded to go to 'add elements' and 'buttons' and choose a button that was similar to the button I had on the contact page. After that I went into 'customise design' and chose the colour that would be appropriate as I would like all the buttons on my website to be the same. made it so that all of my webpages would be fully accessible from the Home page, as it would be easy for the individual reading my website to navigate.
I also customised the box that was on the header to a colour that is present throughout my website, I did this by highlighting the box going into 'Edit' and then 'Customise Design'.
I decided to change the background to a copyright free image I had found, I placed it in by highlighting the background, pressing 'change strip background', then import and chose the file that I wanted to use for the background. I thought this would fit my colour palette a lot more that the image before.
In addition I removed the 'Powered by Wix' from the footer. I did this by selecting it and pressing 'quick edit'. I was then able to change it to my name and remove unnecessary text.
As I was editing the footer I had realised that there was a follow bar, I deleted all of the other social media icons that were there as I did not need them, and I searched up 'Blogger', this made sure that I only had the important socials connected. I once linked my Blogger account and linked it.
I found my blog link and pasted it into the bar. I also selected that the link should open in a new window as this would mean that readers would not have to leave my website completely.
